ENOC discusses sustainability in shipping at the 10th edition of ENOC Marine Conference

  • ENOC Group and Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) host conference to discuss the application of sustainable practices in the marine and shipping sector

Dubai, UAE; September 26, 2017: ENOC Group addressed the significance of applying sustainability best practices within the marine and shipping sector at the 10th ENOC Marine Conference & Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF)'s Middle East Regional Marine Forum.

This year's conference was attended by over 130 industry professionals, focusing on marine and alternative fuels, new regulations in shipping and emerging industry trends, the mandatory Ballast Water Treatment Systems and the Ship Inspection Report Programmes (SIRE) updates.

Some of the other prominent speakers at the forum included Dr. Eng. Waddah Ghanem Al Hashmi, Executive Director, EHSSQ & Corporate Affairs, ENOC; Katharina Stanzel, Director, INTERTANKO; Rob Cox from IPIECA; Vaia Chatzigianni from Minerva and Raj Shetty, Head of Marine at ENOC.

His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO, ENOC, said: "Over the years, the maritime sector has evolved to incorporate sustainable practices that have an impacted the industry's green objectives. We believe in strengthening the sustainable development of the UAE's marine sector, given the strong reliance of the energy sector on it for transport of fuel."

This edition of the ENOC Marine Conference is an effective platform that has brought key industry professionals together to discuss potential issues and solutions facing the industry."

The ENOC Marine Conference has been introduced by ENOC in collaboration with the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF), an international organisation widely recognised its expertise in the safe and environmentally responsible transport and handling of hydrocarbons in ships and terminals.

Captain Andrew Cassels, Director of The Oil Companies International Marine Forum, who also spoke at the workshop, said: "The ENOC Marine Conference has established itself as the premier maritime event for the tanker industry in the Middle East. The conference brings in senior speakers from industry to share their deep expertise with a common goal to make our industry safer and cleaner."
