This was a time when the middle east was not so much focused on this issue. Following the measurement andreporting of GHG emissions, Targets and KPIs for GHG abatement were developed, reported and monitored from 2008 onwards. The results are encouraging and show a steady decrease in our GHG intensity with a cumulative figure of 30% in 2019 compared with our base year of 2014. The main initiativesto reduce the GHG emissions are better utilization of waste heat in our refinery, improving the fuel efficiency of our tankers and reduction in electricity use through efficiency improvement.

While ENOC was actively reducing GHG emissions from its own operations, it was also involved in GHG reduction initiatives targeted at the society in general. Some among these initiatives are:

• Launch of Biodiesel B5, B20 and B100with ENOC Link dedicated biodiesel delivery trucks with tank capacities varying from 800 to 5,000 litres to serve existing and prospect customers.
• First to introduce ‘Ultra-low Sulphur Diesel’ across its retail and commercial networks. The product is 10-PPM sulphur content in line with Euro 5 standard. Launched ENOCBlue a diesel exhaustfluid that reduces harmful tail pipe emissions.
• Active member of Carbon AbatementStrategy (CAS) group of Dubaipromoting biodieselPromoting CNG as a low carbon alternative fuel.

ENOC's strategy on energy and resource management has been to target reduction of all three sources (thermal energy, electrical and water) in all business units - big and small. As with all improvementactivities at ENOC the process is to first measure, target, initiate andreview improvements. The steps implemented are:

• Develop and issue energy policy and policy manual
• Audit against the policy manual and close gaps
• Set improvement plans, targets and KPIs for every operating unit for energy use reduction
• Measure improvements, report and improve

The concept was initiated in 2008 and implementation started in 2009 much before the introduction of ISO Energy Management system. More than 3 cycles of this continual improvement process have been completed. The process has yielded monetary benefits in terms of energy cost per unitof production and tremendous satisfaction to the mmanagement and all personnel involved in the process. The results speak for themselves.

• Overall energy intensity (thermal and electrical) has reduced by about 30% since 2014 till 2020
• GHG emissions intensity has reduced by about 27% since 2014 till 2020
• Use intensity reduced by 18% from 2014 to 2020

ENOC has developed its own Occupational Health & Safety standard that is being implemented, monitored, audited and updated regularly for continual improvement. We ensure safety of our internal and external stakeholders at our site & offices by maintaining high health & safety standards. ENOC has dedicated Occupational Health Centre for own employees which is actively involved in Health Assessment, Pre-employment and General medical check-up, Health evaluation, Employee assistance program, Proactive occupational health, Medical emergency planning, etc.

We regularly train our internal and relevant external stakeholders on various Occupational Health & Safety topics and educate them on our journey for sustainable future.
