  • Report launched at WETEX 2017 highlights the importance incorporating a culture of superior energy performance

Dubai, UAE; 24 October 2017: ENOC launched the second edition of its Energy & Efficiency Report at WETEX 2017, highlighting the need for organisations to build a culture of superior energy performance and institutionalise Energy & Resource Management (E&RM) practices within its operations.

First formulated through the group's E&RM policy in 2008, the report outlines how ENOC has been able to implement innovative initiatives across the Group to achieve substantial savings.

Setting an industry benchmark, the report also reflects ENOC's positioning on energy and resource management, and helps raising awareness among government authorities and stakeholders on the Group's contributions towards key strategies such as Dubai Plan 2021, Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 (DIES 2030) and Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.

His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO, ENOC, said: "The UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda provides a strong mandate for organisations to institutionalise energy efficiency and resource management practices in order to support the green vision of the government. ENOC's report on Energy & Efficiency outlines our innovative measures to build a culture of superior energy performance which can also serve as a benchmark for other companies to enhance their E&RM practices and standards."

"Through the formulation of ENOC's E&RM framework and policies, we have adopted several strategies and projects that have resulted in a staggering cumulative savings of AED28 million on energy bills alone between 2014 and 2016 and abatement of 103,000 tonnes of Carbon Emissions. Launching the second edition of the report underlines our initiatives to promote world-class E&RM practices as well as complementing the UAE government policy of promoting the judicious use of energy and resources," added Al Falasi.

The report emphasises the importance of developing the competency levels of ENOC employees and nurturing the skills and talents of today's youth who have pursed careers in the field of energy and sustainability.

The inaugural E&E report launched in 2015 highlighted ENOC's efforts in compliance with government directives and policies in energy conservation and demand side management - serving as a guide for other businesses to follow and emulate similar practices.

The E&E report is produced bi-annually to highlight key activities and initiatives undertaken by the Group, and also to encourage employees and business units to formulate new initiatives every year to maximise energy efficiency gains. The report also serves as a benchmark for both the public and private sector energy players to reduce their carbon footprint in their operations.
